Jonathan R. Anderson, Owner/Creative Director

Jonathan R. Anderson brings over 20 years of client-side and consulting experience to the table, with communications and executive roles in both corporate and nonprofit contexts. He provides direct design services as well as general contracting with a broad range of skilled professionals to respond to all your marketing communications needs. He operated Anderson Art Productions as a freelance consultant from 1986 – 1996, and established AAP Creative as an Oregon LLC in 2005.

From 2001-2005 Jon served in a several consultant positions in the nonprofit sector, including:

Communications Director for Teen Challenge of Portland (grant funded position). Jon’s portfolio included agency marketing and public relations, research and strategy; ghost writing, publication design, presentations; donor relations, grant writing and budget development.

Marketing Consultant for the City of Gresham, Emergency Services (Homeland Security contract). He produced and directed a recruitment video for Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT); developed emergency preparedness curriculum for city employee families; networked with faith communities to promote partnership with the City; and designed public information and promotional materials.

Community Education & Volunteer Manager for Spokane Neighborhood Action Programs, a human services organization in Spokane Washington. Jon organized public relations for two dozen programs; served as media spokesperson and delivered public presentations. He expanded the volunteer program from individual service in property maintenance and food banks to mass work parties spanning the city, supervising the work of AmeriCorps volunteer appointees.

In 1993 Jon left a flourishing career in corporate marketing to follow an inner sense of calling to the ordained Christian ministry. He moved with his wife and children to attend a graduate theological seminary and received both a Master of Divinity and ordination in the United Methodist Church. Ten years later, after serving in both associate and senior pastorate roles, Jon transferred his affiliation to the Assemblies of God, where he served in part-time and interim roles in Oregon until launching AAP Creative in 2005. Jon’s calling and experience as a pastor now guides his business leadership, contributing to fiscal integrity and warm, honest customer service.

NOTE: A Senior Pastor is Chief Administrative Officer of a 501(c)(3) corporation, a unique role that demands visionary leadership, fiscal development, staff and volunteer supervision, and community relations.

From 1987 to 1992 Jon climbed the corporate ladder in the Portland marketing community: first as Marketing Coordinator for Boyd Coffee and institutional foods in Gresham, then as Advertising Manager for Lutz Snyder residential real estate in Tigard, and finally as Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Grubb & Ellis Commercial Real Estate Services in downtown Portland, where he managed marketing communications for 30 commercial brokers; public relations and special events; published an annual “Shopping Center Guide”; wrote for industry publications and designed a multi-layer commercial real estate map for metropolitan Portland. He also served as Executive Producer of the Portland Advertising Federation’s 1990 “Rosey Awards.”

Jon holds a B.A. in Communications (minor in Marketing) from the University of Oregon in Eugene, and an M.Div from Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California.
